Attitude and Confidence, it's what you do with it that counts

by Odette Laurie on November 15th, 2010

I recently heard from someone that they were surprised how their attitude and confidence were a key factor in the development and success of their business. This didn’t surprise me.  It’s why you succeed or don't. Personally or professionally.  If you don’t have a winning attitude and some level of confidence coming out of the gate, you will probably not succeed.

We can all come up with a million excuses why our relationship didn’t work out, why we didn’t get the job offer, why we can’t lose weight, why we can’t start that business or get it off the ground. It’s just our attitude and confidence talking out of our backsides.  We have excuses for that too; I grew  up poor, I grew up rich, my parents were mean, I wasn’t smart enough in school, I was too smart for my own good, I didn’t fit in, I have a disability…add your own excuse here.

It’s amazing how two people can be confronted with the same obstacle and one person tackles it head on and the other bows their head in despair. Picture Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore. I know that personality and life experiences mould who we are and how we look at the world. It’s the nature vs. nurture debate. However....

How can you have someone who comes from nothing, the rags to riches story, build an empire? How can you have someone who ‘has it all’, success in all areas of life, be a closet addict?

Attitude and Confidence. It’s what you do with it that counts.
